Typing Test 1 (Home Row Index Fingers J & F) is the act of typing quickly without using your sight to determine the keys. It also refers to using all ten fingers without removing them from the keyboard, but rather sliding them. This makes for efficient and fast typing skills and many offices even require employees to have touch typing skills. Whereas people who cannot touch type write up to 35 words per minute, people who can touch type can type up to 65 words per minute. In this time saving, efficient world, it is easy to see why touch typing is so valued.

Relax your fingers, take a deep breath and take it slow. When attempting the typing speed test, you need to be concentrated and not irritated. To start typing faster, the best thing you can do is type more. The quicker your typing-fu is, the more practice you get under your belt. The entire idea is to improve muscle memory. Only make sure that you reinforce the positive habits and not the ones that would damage your fingers after an intense typing session.
Place the fingers on your left hand over the keys A, S, D, and F and place the fingers on your right hand over the keys J, K, L. Such keys are called the keys to the home board. Your thumbs will either be in the air or touch the spacebar key just slightly.
WPM means Words per minute. There are various ways to test Words per minute. The more you practice typing, and the higher the WPM score would be, the more you measure typing speed. Many online typing exercises and computer games only concentrate on typing WPM. The downside of WPM form testing is just learning how to form quickly. WPM typing checks on precision do not say us.
Do as much typing as possible. Do a ton, form tests, do tests to learn. Improve the typing performance of your words per minute, and also check your typing speed. The CPM measures the number of characters you type per minute, including all the errors. Corrected scores just count words typed correctly. WPM is just a set CPM divided by five as per an international standard.
Average professional typist styles are typically 65 to 75 WPM in pace. It takes 80 to 95 more advanced positions (usually the minimum needed for dispatch positions and other time-sensitive typing jobs). Many professional typists operate often involving speeds over 120 WPM. .

If you have not done so, please refer to the finger positions in our Basic Typing Guide. The lessons will be based on this guide. It would help if you want to print out the keyboard diagram as a reminder. Each lesson works upon the previous lessons and it is advised that you work in that order. But because the aim of TopTypingTest is to help you practice as much as possible above all else, there is no fixed format. You are free to choose whichever sets of keys to learn first at your own speed and time. You will find that lessons are broken down into group of letters for each hand. When you feel that you have comfortably mastered each combination of letters, you can move onto the next set. Each sets are then combined to form 'recap' lessons which includes all the keys from previous lessons. And to make it more challenging, we have included Capitalization of letters as a lesson choice.
We understand that it can be quite uninteresting to type away at the same letters for a long time (we all need change to keep it challenging!) , but we do recommend that you try and revisit the same lessons again, even if you have moved on. Every practice session will help you improve your accuracy.
When you have covered all of the numbers or letters section, you can try out the other typing test pages on the site and then return to continue with the capitalization lessons at a later time. We have made it all flexible to suit your learning preferences.
